Last week, we had a new client call us looking for custom dancewear. The outfits were for a large, varsity drill team that wanted a totally unique design – one that would set them apart and match their overall aesthetic.
Within minutes, our customer service team was getting their ideas – what are you looking for? Is it similar to any of our old designs? How soon do you need it? What’s your budget? We even got the customer to send a rough sketch of what they were looking for.
From there, our customer service staff translated all of that information into a custom dancewear worksheet and the order was passed to our designers.
The team wanted a fairly complex back pattern, but we had done something similar before, so we were able to pull that out of our pattern library. They were also looking for a boat neck and stripes – again, both things we can easily do. Because we have such a huge library of products we’ve designed in the past, we’re able to draw on that.
Quickly, the client was provided a sample sketch and now we’re already preparing a sizing sample. Because of our years of experience designing, most times we get the fit and look right the first time. If needed, we fine-tune the design to their needs. Custom dancewear is what MotionWear was first built on, so it’s something that we do really well. We’ve definitely grown, but we’ve never grown out of custom work – I think, maybe, we love helping the dancers out too much to stop.
A dancer, choreographer or retail store owner can call us up and say “I saw a style I really liked in your catalog or on your website, but could you do this or modify this so I can make it my own?” And the answer is always yes, we can do that.
Why? Because we have a massive pattern library, a design staff that really knows how to fit and design for the woman’s body and a customer service staff that I believe is the best in the industry. We can do custom dancewear – we can do it quickly and we can do it right. The best part? We love doing it.
